Tamara "Tammy" Rogers

March 11, 1969 — June 24, 2022

Pflugerville, Texas

Tamara “Tammy” Rochelle Rogers was born on March 11, 1969, to Phyllis Marilyn and William Robert Nungester in the town of Waynesville, Missouri.  After graduating from Glasco High School in Glasco, Kansas, Tammy attended Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Missouri and Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, Kansas.  She continued her education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Deaf Communications at Deaf Missions in Council Bluff, Iowa.

After graduation, Tammy was very active in the local deaf community as she signed for local churches and schools, her fluency in sign language was an amazing gift to many, and a joy to observe, even for those who could hear.  Tammy also enjoyed performing ventriloquism with her favorite puppet “Danny O’Day”, to the delight of audiences old and young.

Tammy went on to acquire her Licensed Practical Nursing degree and served as an LPN in the healthcare field.  During this time, she worked at Glasco Nicol Nursing Home in Glasco, Kansas.  There she met her husband, Dirk Rogers, and together they had two daughters, Jade Anne, and Jasmine Pearl.

Throughout her life, Tammy enjoyed singing with her siblings in churches and special events and continued singing solos with her beautiful voice for school, contests, weddings, and churches.  She shared that love of music with Jade and Jasmine and others.

In spite of her claim that she was not a pet person, she willingly gave in to the requests of Jade and Jasmine to the addition of two cats into the family, Data and Sinatra.  Her conversations often revealed her fondness and amusement over their antics. Tammy loved to make others laugh with her sense of humor, and her way of telling stories.

Tamara is survived by her husband, Joseph Dirk Rogers, her daughters Jade Anne Rogers and Jasmine Pearl Rogers, siblings Sherman Nungester (wife Sharolyn), Nanette Purcell (husband Scott), Patricia Vroom (husband Joseph), 6 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 great- nieces and 3 great-nephews.  She will be greatly missed by her whole family. We love you, Tammy!
