Ross Benford

Ross Benford Jr. “Sonny” left peacefully to the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on June 3, 2020. Ross was the oldest son born to the late Ross Benford Sr. and Lelia Rae Benford of Bastrop Texas. Ross accepted Christ at an early age and later in life pastored the Bastrop Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. After working for the University of Texas in Austin for over 5 years Ross became self-employed and owned and operated his own cleaning service for over 15 years.

Ross was united in marriage to Julia Moore in 1964 and to this union five children were born Wanda Faye, Charles Roland, Kevin Ross, Jeffrey Scott, and DeNotra Sedalia.

Sonny is preceded in death by his beloved: sons - Kevin Ross Benford, Desionee O'Keith Bedford, and Darrell Owen; father – Ross Benford Sr, and mother - Lelia Rae Benford; brothers – Audry Lewis and James Roland Benford.

Sonny leaves to cherish his memories, sons - Charles Roland Benford of Austin, Texas and Jeffrey Scott Benford of San Antonio, Texas; daughters - Wanda Faye and her husband, Terence Carr, DeNotra Sedalia, and her husband, Jacoby Neal of Dale Texas, Shalon Thompson, Marianne Bedford, of Austin, Kebrina Ann and her husband, Matthew Flemmings of San Antonio, Texas, Amanda, and her husband, Ernest Peters of Atlanta, Georgia and Brittany Benford of Bastrop, Texas; sisters Mildred Taylor of Kyle, Texas, Maggie Crayton of Austin, Texas and La Vern Marshall of Bastrop, Texas, 19 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ross's casket will lie in state at Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church of Bastrop, on Saturday, June 13th from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. with the service of a Celebration of Life to follow.  The interment will be at Shiloh Cemetery. Reverends, Carl DeShay, Jr., and Clarence Robinson are presiding.
