Rose Scott

April 26, 1930 — February 22, 2021

McDade, Texas

Rose Lawhon Scott, 90 years old, was born in Littig, Texas on April 26, 1930 and was raised in the Coon Neck community off 1704 in Elgin, Texas.  She met the love of her life, Jack Scott, at a gas station in Elgin in 1945.  They married June 12, 1946 in Georgetown, Texas and lived at the Scott homestead in McDade before moving to Houston.  She resided in Houston 40 years. She moved from Houston in 1990 and lived in Austin and Elgin before finally returning to McDade to live out the rest of her years in the place she loved most.

Rose loved spending time with family.   Nothing could put a smile on her face faster than a visit from one of her kids, grandkids or great grandkids or a family gathering. She was the embodiment of family comes first.

She was a Christian woman and a member of the McDade Church of Christ.  One of her greatest joys in life was hearing her grandson, Nick Stolte, sing.  She loved her trips to her grandson, Keith's farm in Elgin and spending time with family, while watching her great grandson Kayne play and drive all his power wheels cars.  She was a big wrestling fan, in her younger years she loved to do arts and crafts and she always had a yard full of flowers.  In her later years, she loved to spend time reading.  She read the Bible twice front to back. She was a sweet and spunky lady who was loved by everyone she met.

She is survived by her son, Bob Scott (Sheryl), Melvin Scott (Phyllis) and daughter Donna Stolte (Kirk); grandsons, Keith Kubosh (Cambri), Nick Stolte, Jason Scott, Joel Scott (Natalie); granddaughter, Jill Driskill; great grandchildren, Kayne Kubosh, Delaney Shelton (Ben), Caylee Driskill, Lauren Espejo (Alex), Ashley Aleman, Hunter Milburn; sisters, Betty Pruitt, Janit Dixon and Eula Mae Taylor; brother,  Wilton Lawhon (Rosalee) and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Scott; granddaughter Jennifer Scott and grandson Matthew Stolte; parents, Orbra "Pat" Lawhon and Gradie Hibbs Lawhon.

A special thank you to her niece, Linda Haverland for her regular visits, food and especially the deserts and laughter she brought to Rose.
