Obituary

Mack Moore, Jr., a long life-time resident of Bastrop and on Monday, February 3, 2020, the community began to mourn the passing of a strong Black man, who maintained dignity manhood while facing life’s trials and triumphs.  Mack was a gift from God on November 26, 1944, to the late Mack Moore, Sr. and Pauline Taylor Moore in the small community of Bastrop, Texas.  Mack grew up in Bastrop County, attending the public schools and graduated from Emile High School.  Mack accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Chapel Baptist Church by the late Reverend Thomas.

Mack enlisted in the US Army serving a two-year tour, and upon returning to the states with an honorable discharge, he took a job at IBM, where he remained for a numbered of years before retiring. Mack loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.  He was an overseer for the Sayers Cemetery.

Mack was united in Holy Matrimony to Wilma Haywood and her son, Gary.  This union was blessed with two children, Lisa and Terry.  This family grew sharing a number of years before her passing in 2009.

After years of loving and caring for his family, God called Mack from labor to reward. The great cloud of witnesses waiting in Heaven for Mack are his wife, his parents, a daughter, Lorraine Aldridge, one brother, Jesse Taylor, and two sisters, Morlene and Bertha Moore

Mack was blessed to see seventy-five years and his memories will forever be instilled within the hearts of his family and friends.  Mack’s legacy will be cherished by his five children, Charles W. Aldridge, Craig Aldridge; Lisa Alexander of Austin, Terry Alexander of Oklahoma and one step son, Gary Alexander of Austin; four sisters, Alice and her husband, Arthur Russell, Virginia Moore, Minnie and her husband, Bobby Alsup, Sr., and Joyce Anyanwu, one brother, Tommy Moore and his wife, Carolyn, all of Bastrop; six grandchildren, two great grand children, three and four generations  of nieces and nephews and other relatives, neighbors and friends.
