“A light from our household has dimmed.

A voice we loved has been stilled.

A place is vacant in our hearts that can never be filled.”

The epitome of elegance and steadfast faith, Mrs. Loretta Hawkins Stanley entered Eternal rest on July 11, 2021.

A blessed event took place on December 17, 1960, in Elgin, Texas, when Loretta Hawkins was born the fifth child of nine children to William Henry Hawkins and Bernice Nunn. When the family was complete, Loretta was the middle child, blessed with four older siblings, Mae, Elvere, Alice, and William Henry, Jr. and four younger than her, Florence, Kenneth, Sesly, and Joseph Clay.  Loretta grew up in the red sands of Elgin, attending Elgin High School, home of the Wildcats.  Loretta was a star shooting guard and a Purplette.

After high school Loretta moved to Denton, Texas where she worked most of her life as a Certified Nurse Assistance, which she acquired in 1984. She retired from being a CNA in 2005. She went on to become a receptionist at Brooksdale Assisted Living for five years and fully retired in 2010. After she retired, most of her time was spent devoting herself to God and made sure her family felt no other emotion but love. She was very welcoming to all no matter what and made sure each one was taken care of despite of her battle with her health. Outside of God and her family she loved to do interior decorating, watching the food network and home renovation channel and shopping at Marshall’s, and reminiscing on great memories.

Mrs. Loretta Hawkins Stanley beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband of 39 years, Calvin Stanley, her children, Tracy, Detrick, and Tabatha Hawkins, four grandchildren, Imani Cisse, Detrick Hawkins Jr, Leyla Hawkins, and Parker Hawkins; her siblings are Mae White, Elvera and her husband, Elmo Griffin, Alice Cook, William Henry Hawkins, Jr., Florence Johnson, Kenneth Hawkins and his wife, Annie,  Sesly Hawkins and Joseph Clay Hawkins; her nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives covering three and four generations.

Loretta made an impact on any and everybody that came across her path. Making them feel welcomed, loved, and accepted.
