Janis Williams

July 6, 1961 — June 7, 2022

McDade, Texas

On June 5th, Jan suffered a massive aneurysm and was placed on life support. After a couple of days of being on life support, the hard decision was made to remove her life support.  Though Jan passed away June 7, 2022, at 7 PM, her life continues as she gave the ultimate gift to two people, by donating her kidneys, which brings the family comfort knowing that a part of her lives on.

Janis Lynn Williams was born Janis Lynn Hodge to H.G. and Nita Hodge on July 6, 1961.  Jan was the oldest of five siblings. She grew up just outside the city limits of Elgin on a small farm in the Pleasant Grove community with her parents and her four siblings.

Jan grew up in the Coon Neck Church, and attended Sunday school, led by her mother. She was a student in the Elgin Independent School District.

Jan met her husband Timothy Doc Williams through a blind date set up by Tim’s sister Georgia. The two of them dated about a year, enjoying going to movies, the Rockdale Skating Rink, and eating out. Tim and Jan were married August 22, 1981. Tim compares their marriage to that of an Eagle pair. Dedicated, loyal, soulmates for life. They celebrated 40 years of marriage.

Jan enjoyed her hard rock music, AC/DC, Joan Jett and Ted Nugent to name a few. She was Tim’s biggest fan when it came to his paintings.  After he completed one, he’d take it to her, asking her on a scale of 1 to 10, what she thought.  After studying it for a bit, she would smile and say, “It’s another 10.”  Jan enjoyed reading her tabloids, and loved, loved, loved her cats.  Oh, and banana pudding.  It only took Tim one time to forget to get her banana pudding when picking up dinner.

Jan is proceeded in death by her mother, Nita Helton Hodge; her grandparents, Joe and Elise Helton, and Horace and Lucy Hodge; her sister-in-law Kim Williams; her brother-in-law, Curtis Hanson; and her nephew, Waylon Hanson.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy Doc Williams; sister-in-law, Georgia Hanson; brother-in-law Kenneth Williams; her father, H.G. Hodge and wife Gail; her brother, Mike Hodge; her sisters, Lori Milburn-Sulzer and husband Brent, Keri Pekar and husband Charles, and Karen Chapa and husband Ben; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

“If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8
