Janice Carter

February 13, 1965 — April 12, 2022

Austin, Texas

“A light from our household has dimmed.

A voice we loved has been stilled.

A place is vacant in our hearts

that can never be filled.”

Janice Haywood Carter entered Eternal Rest on April 12, 2022.  Janice was born on February 13, 1965, in Austin, Texas to the union of the late Howard and Ethel Haywood.   She attended the public schools in the district, naming Lanier High School.

Janice was united in marriage to Fred Carter at the age of nineteen and to this union two children were born, Ashley and Fred, Jr.

Janice was known to leave a lasting impression on all with whom she came in contact. She raised her children in her parents’ home and provided theirs need. She worked as a certified nurse assistance for thirty-five years at Oak Crest Nursing Home and Govalle Nursing Home. Her favorite hangout was Ruby Lee’s Juke Joint in Bastrop and dancing on the Line in Taylor. Janice enjoyed her weekly lunch date at Luby’s with her daughter, who concerned her as a precious jewel, who loved her children and grandchildren and cared for her family.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning!

Janice will be greeted in heaven by her parents, and her sisters, Emma, and Ella where they will be dancing on the floors of Heaven. Janice lived her life to the fullest, doing it her way, always being a strong Black woman, taking care of her family.

Janice leaves a priceless legacy to be cherished by her children, Ashley Carter and Fred Carter, Jr.; her grandchildren, Arriyah Carter, Javon Carter, Diamond Brinkley, and one great grandchild, Omari; her siblings, brothers: Howard Haywood, Jr., Walley Haywood and his wife, Sandra, Michael Haywood, Sr. and wife Marie, and Robert Haywood, Sr; sisters: Gloria Haywood, Pauline Haywood Carter, Celia and her husband, Carl Satterwhite; a special niece, Stephanie Washington, a special friend of twenty years, Willie Carothers; and nieces, nephews and cousins covering four generations,  and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Family of Janice Carter would like to extend our heartfelt sincere appreciation for all the love and support you have shown us during this difficult time.  Our hearts are bowed in sorrow over our Mother’s passing, yet during these times, you have lifted many of our burdens for which we are eternally grateful. Thank you and May God Bless!

A speical thanks to the cousins that stepped up to help me, which lighten my load. A special recognition to Awesome Blossoms Florist located at 180 Town Center Blvd in Jarrell, Texas, who provided the casket spray for my mom.  To all I say, Thank You!
