Isaac Edward Reese “Bottie” as he was affectionately known was born January 1, 1948 in Taylor, Texas to the late Andrew Lee Reese Sr. and Edna Laverne Harris. He was the youngest of three children.
On Thursday evening, September 3, 2020, in Temple, Texas at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care Hospice Unit. Isaac peacefully entered eternal rest holding hands with his loving daughter Nicole “Sweetheart” as he called her.
Isaac confessed his belief in Christ and accepted Him as his personal Savior at an early age. He joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend R.L. Perry. Isaac immediately started working for THE LORD. He worked in the Sunday School, and Transportation ministry, and wherever else there was a need. Isaac later united with God’s Way Christian Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend B. R. Reese.
Isaac attended O L Price School in Taylor, Texas. He was in the first integrated graduating class of Taylor High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge on August 8, 1969. During his service, he received the following medals and badges: National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle M14).
After his military career, he continued his education at Austin Community College and Temple College. Isaac worked faithfully in his community. He served on the Neighborhood Association alongside of Don Hill to establish a bus route for kids after integration “Bus #14.” He also served as Treasurer for City Council Member Don Hill. Isaac was extremely passionate about the NAACP and even ran for the President’s seat, but fell short of victory. He then made the decision to become a stay at home dad.
In 1978 he united with Patricia Elizabeth McDonald, to this union one daughter was born his “Sweetheart” Patricia Nicole Reese Harvey. Isaac loved his daughter more than anything in this world. One thing’s for sure is that you would not see him without his sidekick “Sweetheart” was right by his side.
Isaac had many talents, but his passion was fishing. He would catch fish and share with the community, especially the seniors. He enjoyed cooking, watching westerns, sports, and wrestling – he said even though he knew it was fake. He also loved music, especially blues, old school and R&B. He was a quiet man with love and wisdom to give. His favorite acknowledgement in a conversation was “EXACTLY,” which he passed on to his daughter.
Isaac is preceded in death by his Grandparents Robert & Earsey Harris; Father Andrew Lee Reese Sr.; Mother Mrs. Edna Laverne Harris Greene; Brother Andrew Lee Reese Jr; and Sister Lois Mae Williams.
Isaac leaves to mourn his death and cherish his life his “Sweetheart” loving daughter, Patricia Nicole Reese Harvey (Michael) of Round Rock TX. Special nephew Andrew “Andy” Lee Reese Jr. of Taylor, TX, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
He will lay In-State at the Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, September 11th from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. A Graveside service will be held at Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Killeen on Monday, September 14th at 9:00 AM with Military Honors.
