Francie Washington Jones, 88, of Bastrop, passed away, Friday, March 12, 2021.  She will lie in state at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, March 19th from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.  A Home-Going Celebration will be conducted at Providence District Association Tabernacle of Cedar Creek, Saturday, March 20th at 11:00 AM with the Reverend, Charles King presiding.  Interment will follow at Colorado Chapel Cemetery, Utley.

Life’s Epitome

The battle is over, I have fought a good fight, and the victory is finally won.  No more suffering and pain, I have much more to gain.  I heard the heavenly angelic choir singing as it drew near the hour. When the pearly gates open, I could see…

Mrs. Francie Washington Jones, a long life-time resident of Bastrop County and on March 12, 2021, the community began to mourn the passing of a strong woman who maintained dignity womanhood while facing life’s trials and triumphs.

Francie Mae was born to Johnas and Johnnie Mae Washington on January 15, 1933 in Bastrop County, Texas, She attended the public schools of Bastrop County, and was raised with a strong Christian foundation and professed a belief in Christ at an early age.

“A Time To Plant”

On April, 1955, Francie Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to Howard Jones and they shared forty-three years of marriage before his passing in 1998. Their union was blessed with eight children.

“A Time To Play and Work”

Francie Mae, led an active life, dedicating her time to her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, and became their Mae Mae.. She was brave, selfless, loving, caring and concerned about others, always thinking of others before herself. Francie Mae leaves a gap in her absence but brought light and love to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.  Mae Mae enjoyed fishing, working in her garden and cooking for the babies. Mae Mae became the number one babysitter.

“A Time To Die”

Mae Mae led an active and fulfilling life for this legacy she established is endless. Although this occasion has caused many hearts to bleed and many eyes to water because of having to bid “adieu” to a Mother, a Mae Mae, a Sister, an Aunt, a Cousin, a Friend – OUR MOMMY – will be truly missed!  Mommy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard Jones, her parents, two children, Gerald Lee Jones and Howard Jones, Jr.; two brothers, Author Benford, and Henry Washington; two sisters, Florida Earl, and Mattie Grant, and two grandchildren, Aaron Jones and Kevin Dabney.

“A Time To Celebrate”

After seeing four generations, Mae Mae lived a thankful enriched life and her legacy will be long remembered by her sons, Henry Jones, Raymond Jones, and Randy Jones all of Utley; her daughters, Viola Monk of Cedar Creek, Brenda Jones and Willie Mae Grant of Utley; her sister, Mollie Fowler of Utley; and her brother, James Washington of Shiloh. Mae Mae also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews covering five generations, with five generations of cousins and other relatives and friends. Mae Mae will also be missed by a multitude of community children and their children.

Mae Mae rest, the battle is over, REST!

Anthony White, Daniel Washington, Randy Jones, Tommy Bookman, Henry Washington, Jr., and Randall Jones will serve as Casket Bearers

Jimmy Ramos, Damien Winston, Anthony Hubbard, Jessie Howard and Keyshawn Fields will serve as Men of Honor
