Evelyn Robertson

Evelyn Sheree Papes Robertson, 88 years, passed away quietly at home Saturday, July 1, 2023, with her faithful companion, Baby, at her side.  Sheree was born at home, on October 27, 1934, in Cameron, Milam County, Texas, the eight of nine children to Lonnie Seaton and Beulah Wells Seaton.

She loved school and excelled in all subjects, especially math and spelling. While she never finished the sixth grade, it did not slow her down as she went on to excel in business!  She began her working career as a waitress at the age of 12.  She then began drafting for the telephone company, while studying to become a hospital lab tech.  She later attended business college; after graduating she became her own boss, where she found her passion in management.  She ran clubs in Temple and Austin, a Beauty Shop in Temple, and for the last 40 years as owner and operator of Arrow Auto Sales of Elgin. She loved her family and the working world. She made lasting friendships and was successful in every business she worked in because she loved and treated her customers as extended family.

She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband; her siblings; and granddaughter, Christie.

She is survived by two children, Linda Nolen of Elgin and James Ackerman of Register, GA; two grandchildren, Sheree Bristoll of Elgin and Wendell Nolen of Hawkins; 13 great-grandkids, Jonathan, Taira, Moriah, Madison, Jefferson, Eleanor, Eli, Grace, Lindsi, Anna, Caroline, Abigail, and Jackson; 12 great-great-grandkids, Vicktoriey, Colt, Adalyn, Samuel, Kimberly, Tucker, Gabriel, Asher, Everleigh, Mitchell, Hayden and Wesley; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends will gather at Elgin Funeral Home for Visitation, Wednesday, July 5th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  A Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home, Thursday, July 6th at 10:00 AM with Pastor Steve Ponder presiding.  Private interment will follow at the Papes Family Cemetery of Elgin.
