I’ve lost my house, most of what I

own but they can’t take my faith,

love for my family & memories…

Elaine Joiner

The epitome of elegance and steadfast faith, Mrs. Elaine Joiner of Elgin, Texas, entered Eternal rest on January 31, 2021.  She was born on April 20, 1955 to Russell and Anna Estepp in Wilmington, Ohio.

Elaine grew up in the community of Wilmington and attended the public schools and graduated from Largo High School with the Class of 1973.  Elaine confessed her love for Christ through the Catholic Church, in and out of season.

Elaine worked as a supervisor for special nutrition program for the Texas Department of State Health Services from 1988 to 2005. Elaine retired from the work force only to become a full time Grandma and housewife, which she mastered them both.

On December 31, 2000, Elaine was united in Holy Matrimony to Bobby Joiner. Elaine often told the story of how she met the love of her life at Shorty’s in Elgin.  Only to know him as Bebop, he played “One in a Million” and I was his for life. They shared many memories over the years. Today, Elaine would tell him ‘My darling Bobby, we are still practicing because every day is a new adventure, trials or tribulation that we have to conquer.’

Elaine loved her family; her grandchildren were her best friends and partners in crime in a unique way.  She loved cooking for her family, each having a special meal as they desired.  Elaine was active in the community working with the school activities and supporting the National Night Out. She was an active member of the Elgin Juneteenth Committee and served on many projects including working on getting the organization with a 501C. Elaine and Bebop was crowned Mr. and Mrs. Juneteenth in 2015. Elaine had many friends that she referred to as Angels for all the support shared with her family during their disaster recovery. Elaine liked entertaining her friends, watching the cooking shows, learning how to feed a large family on a small budget, naming Pampered Chef.

Elaine was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord dearly.  As the gates open for Elaine, she will be reunited with her parents, her twins – Amee Renei Duren and Tracey Ruschelle Duren and her brother, Gayle Flores. As she walks around Heaven, she will see her brother-in-law, Jerry, whom she will be laid to rest next to in her mortal shelter. Elaine will also join her pet dog, Jake at the rainbow bridge and her first husband, Bruce Banks.

In God’s care, to cherish her memories, Elaine leaves her husband of twenty years, Bobby ‘Bebop’ Joiner, children – Aaron Duren, Christine Lilly, and Tamara Olmstead; grandchildren – Vicki Mulkey, Timothy Duren, Jamey Duren, Austin Olmstead, and Alex Olmstead; sisters – Pam Bassler, Cheryl Bowermaster, Donna Pennington and Deborah Sparrow; brothers – Bob Flores and Bob Estepp, aunts - and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives. Elaine also leaves a friend, one closer than a sister, a bonus sister, Bettye Lofton.
