On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, Sister Billie Joyce Vincent, heard the Lord say

" You've fought a good fight and have finished your course and kept the faith, come on home to your eternal rest."

Billie , a lifetime resident of Elgin, Texas, was a devoted and loving mother; she especially enjoyed cooking and family times. Billie truly enjoyed playing dominoes and a good winning evening with her bingo cards. She liked sports as long as it was the Cowboys, winning or losing, and the Lakers… a diehard fan.

Billie Joyce Williams was born on July 21, 1933 to Lonnie Williams and Martha DeVaughn Williams.  She attended the public schools of Bastrop County and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, landing her first job at the Fleming Hospital in Elgin, as a cook.

Billie acknowledged Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early aged and served Him at Pleasant Hill A.  M. E. Church in Elgin.

Billie was joined in Holy Matrimony with the late Ernest Vincent on July 21, 1956. Their union was entrusted with two boys and two girls.  At the time of Mr. Ernest passing, the couple was blessed with fifty-seven years of marriage.

Billie was a faithful and productive member working under the Pastorate of Reverend Damon Blakely, she was a chartered member when the church merged with Mount Vernon A. M. E. Billie and her family maintained their membership as the church grew and pastor assignments changed to Reverend Bunnie Stark and the present pastor, Reverend JR Johnson.

Although, Billie worked as a cook, she still enjoyed baking for her family.  Upon the closing of the hospital, Billie took a job working the assembly line at Weed Instruments of Elgin.  Having a passion for cooking, Billie went to work for Elgin Nursing Home as a cook and stayed until retirement age.
