Ann Scott

March 11, 1944 — February 5, 2021

Elgin, Texas

Mary Ann Swanzy Scott, affectionately known as Ann, was born March 11, 1944 and brightened the world until February 5, 2021. She was born in Buckholts, Texas, to Wilbur and Mildred Swanzy. She graduated from Rosebud High school in 1962. Following graduation, she moved to Austin where worked for over 35 years with IRS until her retirement in 2003.
She enjoyed her work and took pride in the accomplishments of doing her job well. When not at work, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, spoiling her grandchildren and all kids. She was passionate about photography, flowers, scenic views, and her family standing in tight groups with the younger ones wearing matching shirts. She was an avid reader, always exploring the written word. Traveling was a favorite use of time. Visiting family, digging her toes in the sand at the beach, rafting on the Snake River past the Grand Teton mountains, exploring Oahu and gazing over the Grand Canyon to name a few. Never afraid to try something new she even accompanied grandchildren to waterparks often riding with them.  She was also a trusted and faithful member of Elgin First Baptist Church.  Married for over 55 years a faithful wife and mother. Providing her family with finances, warm meals and tender love. Present for the birth for all eight grandchildren and great grandchild. She truly loved her brother and sisters. She never met a stranger, adopting all she came across making everyone feel like family. She truly was everyone's "nana.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Denson Swanzy and Mildred Lee Tamplin Swanzy; her sisters, Evelyn Rogers and Paula Scott; and her son-in-law, Harvey Kyser.
She is survived by her Husband Joe Scott; her daughter, Dena Kyser; son, Dave Scott and wife Angela; her granddaughter, Amanda Kyser and partner Ricky Stevens; her grandsons, Logan Scott, Lane Kyser, John Scott, Travis Kyser and wife Meghan, Cole Scott, Benjamin Kyser, Jackson Kyser; her great-grandchildren, Isabel and Kuyler Stevens; her brother W.D. Swanzy and wife Carolyn; her sisters-in-laws, Lee Edwards, Shirley Kruger and husband Lonnie and Mary Scott; her brother-in-laws, Allen Scott and Donald Scott; and numerous extended family and dear friends.  She will be greatly missed by many and forever loved by all who knew her.
