Vera E. Penson

February 29, 1956 — January 18, 2024

Austin, Texas

Thy mercy O Lord, endureth forever; forsake not the works of thine own hands. Psalms 138:8.

 God's Timing

God saw that you were getting tired and a cure was not to be so, HE whispered "Come With ME." With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us HE only takes the best!

Vera Edna (Tuda) Penson was a woman and mother. My mom was a woman who always spoke her mind. She believed in speaking her truth no matter what! She had a witty personality, and she could get with the best of them in a game of (lip-talking) dominoes...she enjoyed running the table! Her love for family, food, accounting, plants, Dallas Cowboys, National Geographic, cooking, dancing, and Bernie Mac was unmeasurable. She ALWAYS enjoyed feeding us her rendition of "good eating."

Although she had somewhat of a no-no-nonsense demeanor inwardly, she was as gentle as a puppy getting her tummy rubbed. My mom lived a full life! She embraced what was before her head-on. Even with her struggles and strongholds, she believed that God was in control and that only HE could judge her...

On January 18, 2024, my mom didn't lose her life to cancer because she had already given her life to Christ. Now she's gone home undoubtedly, I know that she's okay!

My mom, "Tuda" is preceded in death/by her parents Johnnie B. Penson (mama), John L. Penson (dad), Norman J. Davis (father.) Her siblings called home before her are Gennie Mae, Jack, Chester (Neal), Marlon (Ray), Johnny (Bubba), Melvin, Anna, and her bonus sisters/best friends Antionette Thompson & Wynetta Cathy.

Tuda is survived by a plethora of family to carry out her "good eating" and dominoes, her daughter, Anissa Nicole Turner (Nikki), granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Kennard, and her great-granddaughter, Ariyan Drew-Nicole Kennard (Pretty.). Her beloved siblings Cleo Wilson (bonus mom), Buehla Penson, Eunice Penson, Lucy Parker, Phyllis Benson,  Roy Penson, Harold Penson & Sherry-Anne McKenzie.
