Elgin, Texas

Tommy Jack Harris, born on July 8, 1949, in Roswell, New Mexico, passed away on June 10, 2025, in Elgin, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and resilience that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

Tommy served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1969. After his military service, he moved from New Mexico to Texas in search of job opportunities and to raise his family. Tommy's career as a street sweeper was marked by his commitment to maintaining the beauty of the communities he served.

He was not only known for his work but also for his many interests and hobbies. Tommy had a passion for collecting unique rocks, a love for gardening, and enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds, which brought him great joy and tranquility.

Tommy is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Kay (Muse) Harris, and his cherished children: Michelle and her husband Manuel Montecinos, Christina Harris and her wife Jena Slocum, Tommy Harris and his wife Yazi, and David Harris and his wife Katie. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Paul Montecinos and his wife Becca, Maricella Montecinos and her husband Michael Whitehead, and Manuel Montecinos, as well as Alexus, Brooke, Charles, and Samantha Harris. Tommy proudly welcomed three great-grandchildren into the world, Elijah, Cameron, and a third expected in the fall, bringing further blessings to his loving family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gloria Hope Schrimsher and Thomas William Harris, as well as his brothers, Jimmy and Frayne Brenham, and Bruce Harris. The void left by their passing is felt deeply, yet the memories they created together will be a source of strength for his family.

Family and Friends will gather at Elgin Funeral Home, for a Celebration of Tommy's Life with Military Honors, Thursday, June 19th at 11:00 AM.  The family welcomes everyone to attend, providing an opportunity to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched so many lives.

Tommy's kindness, warmth, and spirited nature will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. His presence will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made in Tommy's Memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
