Listen to Obituary

Theressia Bernice Wilson, a precious mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, saw the gates of Heaven open and the Lord call her name from labor to reward on January 25, 2026. She entered peacefully.

Erma and Bennie Lewis received a beautiful baby girl they named Theressia Bernice Wilson on December 5, 1958 in the little town of Elgin, Texas. Attending school in Elgin, Theressia accepted Christ at an early age becoming a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. She later moved to Houston, Texas, in which she loved the city for many years. She returned to her hometown of Elgin in 2018.

Theressia was lively, kind, warm-hearted, and genuine. Her laugh was contagious and her smile bright. She was a social butterfly who made friends with anyone she met wherever she went. She loved to cook for her family and friends and enjoyed life with the words, "Give me another one."

Theressia Wilson had a great love for both of her children, Desmond Andrea Wilson and Erma Wilson. She was fiercely protective of her children, nieces, and nephews. Her presence in our lives helped shape the adults we became. Her unconditional love gave us comfort when we needed it. She was the easiest person to talk to and confide in. We are eternally grateful to have a wonderful person as she was. We will miss her for a lifetime.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughter, Erma Wilson. Her life was complete when she became a grandmother to A'Maya and J'Maya White. She is also survived by her brothers Luther Wilson (Maryland), Lennoris Wilson, and Marvin Wilson; sisters Betty Elliott (Rollen) Elaine Clay, Redia Joiner (Ray); her aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Theressia preceded in death by both parents Erma and Bennie Lewis; her son Desmond Wilson; sisters Ida-May, Ynetta, and Becky; brothers, Lawrence, Clearance, Ronnie, and Bennie; and her nephew, Detrick Elliott Sr.
