Taylor Warren Metcalfe, Sr.

Taylor Warren Metcalfe, Sr. passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026 at the age of 94. He was born on August 27, 1931 in McDade, Bastrop County, Texas to Joseph F. Metcalfe and Louise Taylor Metcalfe.

In 1960, Taylor married the love of his life, Sue Ross Metcalfe. They shared 54 devoted years of marriage and raised four children together: Katherine Louise James (Bruce), Barbara Jo Ebner (Terry), Taylor Warren Metcalfe, Jr. (Pam), and Eleanor Sue Bishop (Troy).

Taylor proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran and greatly enjoyed sharing stories of his time in service. Following his military career, he dedicated his professional life to education and technology, working as a teacher, coach, principal, and later as a computer programmer before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sue Metcalfe; his sister, Josephine Metcalfe Smith (Palmer); his brothers, Brooks Metcalfe (Jean) and Joseph F. Metcalfe, Jr. (Barbara); and his nephews, Francis P. Smith and Joseph F. Metcalfe III.

Taylor is survived by his four children; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother in law James Duff Ross (Yvonne) and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

Taylor will be laid to rest at Liberty Hill Cemetery beside his loving wife. There are no services scheduled at this time.
