Roy A. Howell

Cedar Creek, Texas

Roy Allen Howell of Cedar Creek passed on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 20, 2024. Roy was born June 25, 1941, in Holland Texas. His father was a truck driver, so his family moved around. He often spoke of living in Big Springs and Moody Texas. Roy graduated High School in Bartlett, Texas in 1959. He worked for the State of Texas for 30 years. Roy was preceded in death by his father Artie Lawrence Howell and his mother Jewell Elizabeth Avis Howell; his brother Donald Howell and sister Paulett Archer. 

Roy loved playing baseball (just out of High School Roy had a short stint with the Colt 45’s before they became the Astros). Playing dominoes was one of Roy’s favorite activities along with watching The University of Texas football team play. Also, he loved camping trips with his family to the Big Bend of Texas, the Davis Mts. in far west Texas, Wyoming, and the Grand Canyon. 

Roy is survived by his wife Linda Gail Kyser Howell of 41 years; his daughter Heather Davis and husband Jason Davis and their children. Grandson Tyler Heckman; Granddaughters Katelyn Davis and Allyson Davis. Daughter Annie Elizabeth Howell and Granddaughter Jordyn E. Travis. Stepson James Bland Cooper and wife Traci Webber; and Step-Grandsons Evan Cooper; Drew Hand and Aaron Webber. Grandson and adopted Son Andrew Howell. He is also survived by his sister Bobbie Copeland of Hewitt, Texas; Brother Jimmy Howell of Temple, Texas and numerous Nieces and Nephews. 

Roy’s wife Linda wishes to express a heartfelt Thank You to the Aspen Hospice Nurses for their care of Roy. She also sincerely wants to thank her family for always being there when she needed them. Evelyn Charline Kyser, Carolyn and Norman Brown, David Kyser, Charlie and Sherrilynn Kyser, and Dena Kyser. She also wishes to recognize two of her cousins Charlotte and Shirley for their support and Roy’s nephew John David Howell and wife Leann. 

A Memorial Graveside Service will be August 10th, at 10:00 AM at the Speir Cemetery of Elgin, under the guidance of The First Baptist Church of Webberville with Pastor David Kyser presiding.
