Roy Lee Bolton’s Footprints of Life

“To everything is a Season and a time to every purpose under the heaven”

                                                    Ecclesiastes 3:1

 “A Time To Be Born”

On February 13, 1975, in the city of Dallas, Texas, Roy Lee Bolton and Joyce E. Bolton were given the charge to be parents to a bouncing baby boy; they named him Roy Lee Bolton Jr. He was their only child.

“A Time To Plant”

Roy was given the name ‘Lil Roy’, which followed him throughout his life. He grew up on the dusty streets of Austin and attended the public schools of his choice, earning his high school diploma. Lil Roy grew up with a strong Christian foundation. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the sitting Pastor, Reverend J. J. Dixon.

“A Time To Play and Work”

The Lord entrusted Roy Lee with two children, Jaylon and RaeShon. He was a loving and caring Father, caring for their needs and most of their wants.  Roy enjoyed his family and friends, especially family holiday hangouts.  He enjoyed fishing, bike riding, shooting pool, and taking care of his dogs. Lil Roy was the king of any dominoe table and the master at a Chess game.  His children's time was very special to him; from the cradle to his arms to walking on the side, they shared a special bond. That bonding was passed to his grandchildren, who could do no wrong. Lil Roy loved his family.

“A Time To Die”

Roy Lee’s heavenly departure was on Monday, April 1, 2024, as this occasion has caused many hearts to bleed, many eyes to water, and mine to reflect. Lil Roy is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce E. Bolton, his father, Roy L. Bolton, Sr., and his material and fraternal grandparents.

“A Time To Celebrate”

After seeing his family begin to grow,  Lil Roy’s short legacy will be long remembered and cherished by his Son, Jaylon Ellison Sr. (Bryanna) of Lockhart, Texas, his Daughter, RaeShon Bolton of Austin, Texas, his Grandson, Jaylon Ellison Jr., his Granddaughter, Jai`Laya Ellison, his Uncle, Roy Smith, his Aunt, Rose Thomas, and a host of other relatives, and friends

A Home-Going Celebration will be held at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Austin, Saturday, April 20th at 1:00 PM with Reverends A.J. Quiton, T.L. Garner, and Derius Yarbrough presiding.  Interment will follow at Sayers Cemetery.
