On the early morning of December 7, 2025, an angel of silence came and summoned the bright spirit of Our Mother, my Child, our Sister, our Aunt, our Grand-Ma, and our Friend, Rosie Lee Hubert Franklin. Her lips were sealed, and her soul had gone to a place of eternal rest.
On August 17, 1948, in Bastrop, Texas, God blessed Mr. Ben Hubert and Eula Lee (Jackson) Hubert with a baby girl, whom they named Rosie Lee Hubert. Rosie grew up in Bastrop and attended the public schools in the Bastrop Independent School District. At an early age, Rosie Lee accepted Christ under the leadership of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church.
In 1962, Rosie was united in Holy Matrimony to James Howard Franklin of Hills Prairie, Texas. This union was blessed with two children, Shanta and Vicky. Rosie loved family, and this union provided unending love.
Rosie was a devoted child of God who loved her church and church family. She worked at Private Family Homes in Austin, Texas, for many years. Active in her community, she saw a need as she approached retirement. Rosie provided childcare for local children in Shiloh and Bastrop. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, serving and doing the Lord’s Will. Rosie sang in the choir, participated in Young Christian Women in Action, Mission I and II, and served on the Pastoral Care committee. She enjoyed talking about the Lord and spending time with her family.
As the gates of heaven open, Rosie will join her husband, James Franklin; her daughter, Vicky; her father, Ben Hubert; her sisters, Annie, Lucinda, and Diane; and her brother Ralph.
Rosie leaves to share and celebrates her homegoming; her darling daughter, Shanta Franklin, granddaughter, Shanteria Thompson, and great grandson, Justeria Wilkins all of Killeen, Texas, her mother Eula Lee Hubert, two sisters Evelyn and her husband, Reverend Brian Edmondson of Killeen, Texas, and Linda of Bastrop, four brothers Dennis, Allen, Michael and Kent (Brenda) all of Bastrop, Texas, a special nephew whom she loved as her own son, Shawn Knox, and a bonus daughter, Shalon Thompson. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives and friends, including the Church’s family.
Family and Friends will gather for a Celebration of Rosie Lee's Life at Providence District Association Tabernacle of Cedar Creek on Friday, December 12th, at 11:00 AM, with the Interment to follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
