Rodney “Bubba” was born to Nettie B. (Coffee) and J.D Hilliard on December 9, 1959 in Austin, Texas and departed this life on May 2, 2020. He attended Austin public schools, graduating from John H. Reagan High School in 1978.
Rodney worked in the maintenance and janitorial department for 19 years at Travis State School. He spent the remainder of his years as a heavy equipment operator. Rodney was an avid auto mechanic and was always there to help those he loved.
Rodney was preceded in death by; his mother, father, grandmothers and grandfathers.
Rodney leaves to celebrate his memory: brother, Robert G. Hilliard, niece, Christina Hilliard (Shaun); lifelong love, Bertha Mendez; three children he loved dearly; Toni and Brad Deshuotel, Jr. and Eric Mendez; grandson Grayson Rodney Deshuotel; Aunt, Esther Wiley (Mal); Uncle, Lawrence Coffee (Patty); Aunt, Tommie Coffee; Sister-in-law, Ada Hilliard and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Rodney Hilliard, 60, of Killeen, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020. A viewing will be held at Weimar Masonic Cemetery from 12:00 until 1:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Ronald Carter presiding.
