Richard Tijerina, age 65 of Manor, Texas, passed away quietly at home on Monday, August 4, 2025. Richard had fought a battle with cancer for the last year.

Richard was born in Austin, Texas, on December 18, 1959. As a small child, he and his family moved to Homestead, Florida. They were migrant workers and would spend the summers traveling to various states throughout the North picking crops. Richard and his family returned to Austin to live in 1976.

Richard worked in the entertainment industry for many years. He started as a barback, then learned bartending, and now to DJ. He worked his way up to management and bookkeeping. During those years, Richard took a job as a courier at CPL Laboratories in Austin. In 2005, he gave up the bar business and concentrated only on his job at CPL. He retired from there in 2023 after 28 years of service. Richards’ passion was music. He was a DJ and had his own mixing studio at home.

Richard leaves behind his husband of 22 years, always the life of the party, outgoing, happy, and full of life. He loved to travel. He resided in Manor, Texas.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and wife Mary Cortez, brother, Robert and his wife Susie, brother Joe and his wife Lupe, brother Daniel and sister Audelia Castruita.

Richard is survived by his husband, Steve Stalions, brothers, Antonio, Johnny, and his wife, Febe, San Juan and his wife, Anna, Bennie and his wife, Maria; his sisters, Mary Helen Roblesand and Nora Tijerina. Richard leaves behind 42 nieces and nephews and 138 great-nieces and nephews. Richard was blessed to be a part of a very large family.

A visitation will be held at Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, August 11th, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Christian Funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Manor on Tuesday, August 12th, at 10:00 AM with Father Henry presiding. A Christian Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery of Austin.
