Rhondel Kay Williams (Griffin)

December 10, 1955 — September 19, 2024

Taylor, Texas

Life Story of Rhondel Kay (Ron) Griffin-Williams

Rhondel Kay Williams (Griffin), affectionally known as “Ron Kay”, was born on December 10, 1955, to Alvin Vernon and Lillie Mae Griffin in the community of Taylor, Texas. She was the tenth child in this bonded family. At first sight – everyone fell in love with her. Her mother said, “Ron was a living doll from God.”

On September 19, 2024, at the beautiful age of sixty-eight, Rhondel, our living doll, gained her wings.

While in high school, Rhondel played volleyball, where she had a mean serve. She would serve the ball to hit the line perfectly without it being called ‘out.’ Rhondel graduated from Taylor High School with the Class of 1974. After high school, she pursued a degree at Austin Barber School, where she discovered her true talent-cutting hair. Rhondel’s skill was unmatched, and she was known for her precision and artistry.

After completing barber school, Ron Kay moved to Temple, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Gregory Williams. They shared forty beautiful years. She was known for saying, “When I met and fell in love with my husband Greg, I knew I found my true love.”

Rhondel was a very special person who would go above and beyond for her family. She had a smile that could light up a room just by her presence. Rhondel Kay was her birth name, but to family and friends, ‘Ron Kay’ was her name. Ron Kay was a fun-loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend. Ron Kay had a way to make you laugh with the laugh that she had. After marrying her husband, Gregory, they moved to Maryland, where they lived for thirty-five years. Upon retirement, they moved back to Texas, first to Taylor, then to Temple. Ron Kay worked at Dollar Tree, where she loved greeting people, leaving them with a laugh or two. Ron Kay had a way to make you feel welcome whenever you came into the Dollar Tree. Ron Kay lived in Temple until God called her home.

Rhondel was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Greg; two infant sons and one infant daughter; her parents, Alvin Vernon Griffin and Lillie Mae Griffin; her brothers, L.D Griffin, Donnie Joe Griffin, and Otis Ray Griffin; her sisters Verna Mae Milligan, Sarah Lee Griffin, Marsha Sue Guyton, and Linda Faye Riggins; and a very special sister-in-law, LaVoice Calhoun.

Our living doll is an Angel Doll, and her priceless legacy will be cherished by her stepson, Orby Williams of Houston, her sisters, Carol and husband Eugene Hargers of Hutto, LaNell, and husband Shorty Mitchell of Taylor, and Sherri and husband Vernon Cook of Taylor; brothers, Alvin Griffin of San Antonio, Nathaniel Griffin and wife Rosalinda of Austin, and Bobby Griffin of Taylor; her sister-in-law, Robbie Griffin of Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews covering three to four generations, cousins, and dear friends.

Serving with Grace and Honor are Casket Bearers Alvin Griffin, Nathaniel Griffin, Bobby Griffin, Eugene Hargers, Vernon Cook, Shorty Mitchell, Larry Frischen, and Anthony Turner. Men of Honor are Darrell Milligan, Dean Griffin, Bernard Guyton, Donavon Griffin, Roderick Griffin, Steffon Cook, and Le’Nerick Mitchell.

We want to thank everyone for your prayers, kindness, and support during this time of bereavement. Perhaps you dropped by to say hello or call on the telephone. May God Bless…
