In Loving Memory of Reverend Sue Ann Knetig
Reverend Sue Ann Knetig, a beloved figure in the community of Elgin, Texas, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 11th, 2024. Born on March 22, 1952, in Luling, Texas, she brought joy to all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She is now reunited her cherished parents, Sherman and Joyce Williamson.
From the young age of 12, Sue dedicated her life to preaching the Gospel. She preached her first sermon at Faith Chapel in Lockhart, Texas. Sue was ordained at age of 17, and she preached a Six-Week Revival at the Coon-Neck Community Church. She had the joy of co-pastoring the Coon-Neck Community Children’s Church alongside her sister Pam for six years. Together, they traveled to Jamaica, Mexico, and across the United States, sharing love and laughter through evangelism, often bringing smiles to children with puppets and clowns.
From 2017 to 2020, Sue served as the pastor of Deliverance Temple in Elgin. Prior to her illness in 2023, she was the Pastor at Sebastopol Methodist Congregational Church in Trinity. Sue and Pam opened their hearts and home to many children in need, earning recognition as the "Foster Family of the Year" for the State of Texas. Sue’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her pastoral duties; she also worked as a Respiratory Therapist and as a Transportation Dispatcher for the Elgin Independent School District.
Creative and talented, Sue found joy in painting and sharing her crafts with loved ones. Known for her quick wit and loving nature, she had an exceptional ability to make everyone feel cherished and valued. Her warmth and acceptance created a legacy of love that will forever be remembered.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the caregivers and medical team who provided Sue with compassionate care during her final days. Special thanks go to Aspen Hospice, whose support was invaluable, particularly to Nurse Jo and CNA Sabrina, whom Sue affectionately referred to as "Honey." Their gentle words and warm care were like sweet balm to her heart, embodying the scripture from Proverbs 16:24 that Sue treasured.
Sue leaves behind a loving family, including her two sons, Sherman Richard Knetig and Christopher Forester, and three daughters, Candlyn, Florentina, and Sylvia. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and was affectionately known as 'Nana Sue' to a multitude of nieces and nephews. Her two brothers, Boyce Williamson and Gary Williamson, along with their wives, Patricia and Diane, also survive her, as does her dear heart sister, Pamela Joy Castello. Though Sue has departed from this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones. She truly lived her life in service to others, and her legacy of love, faith, and joy will remain in all our hearts forever.
Family and Friends will gather for Visitation at Family Worship Center on Saturday, October 19th, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Sue's Life at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Jerry Edmon presiding. Sue will be laid to rest at Young’s Prairie Cemetery. Serving with Grace and Honor as Pall Bearers are: Johnny Rochester, Trey Rochester, Curtis Craig, La Toya Hill, Sabrina Juarez, and Chris Juarez.
