Rebecca Nunez Johnson, 61, of Elgin, Texas, passed away Wednesday morning, August 26, 2020, surrounded by her daughter, Staci; her “Old Man,” Donald Weldon, after a 2-year battle with a debilitating illness. She was born on May 21, 1959, to Janie T. Tamez Nunez and Samuel R. Nunez, Sr, in Elgin, Texas.

Rebecca, also known as “MeMaw,” was the best grandmother; her grandchildren were her pride and joy She loved and supported her grandchildren and never missed a sporting event - although there were numerous times she would be asked to leave the stands because she would get so excited.She enjoyed dining out at restaurants with her family and the time spent with Don for the last 15 years.  Rebecca took pride in her ability to clean a house from top to bottom.

She showed her love by doing for others, which made her the best Caregiver; a job she thoroughly enjoyed the last 10 years of her life; she cherished the time she spent with Sadie and Alayna Ramirez.

Rebecca was an amazing cook, which was just another way she gave to the people she loved.  Her Spanish rice was a crowd favorite among her friends and family.

Rebecca is proceeded in death by her parents, Janie T. and Samuel R. Nunez, Sr.; two brothers, Samuel Nunez, Jr. and Alberto Nunez.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her partner of 15 years, Donald Weldon; one daughter, Staci and husband Dylan Carter; her five grandchildren, Cooper and Abby King of Elgin, Cason, Tait, and Tanner Carter and his wife Kaci all of Lexington; her great-granddaughter, Jaxie of Lexington; 10 siblings, Mary Helen Ramirez, Irene Ubias, Nora Zavala, Aurora Nunez, Guadalupe Nunez, Georgina Garcia, Rene Nunez, Jose Alfredo Nunez, Frances Juarez, and Sandino Nunez; and numerous nieces nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted graveside at the Elgin Latin Cemetery, Saturday, August 29th at 9:00 AM with Minister Joshua Hausladen presiding.
