Ray Lynn Ward

July 28, 1949 — January 15, 2024

Austin, Texas

I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”      ~Revelation 21:3-4 NLT

A precious gift arrived in Bastrop County on July 28, 1949, Ray Lynn Ward, who was born to Dorothy and James Ward. He was raised in a Christian home and professed a hope in Christ at an early age, joining Mount Moriah Baptist Church under the care of Reverend R. A. Westbrook. Ray Lynn attended the public schools in Bastrop County, Texas.

Ray worked many years driving cement trucks for Texas Ready-Mix and other cement companies.

Ray had a heart as big as Texas and would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it.

He was well-loved by family and friends and the residents and employees of the Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

After witnessing four generations, Ray’s life journey ended on January 15, 2024.  Ray Lynn leaves to cherish his memory his three sons, Merion Ward, Ryan Ward, and Andre Ward, his grandchildren, his sister, Patricia Madison, and nieces, nephews, and cousins covering three generations, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.                                            Ecclesiastes 12:7

There’s an open gate at the end of the road

Through which each must go alone

And there is light we cannot see

Our Father claims his own

Beyond the gate, your love ones find

Happiness and rest

And there is comfort in the thought

That our loving God knows best

Not ours to know the reason why

Unanswered is our prayer.

But ours to wait for God’s own time

To lift the cross, we bare.
