Raphel Palmer

Ralphel grew up in Bastrop County and attended the public schools, graduating from Booker T, Washington High School. At an early age, Ralphel accepted Christ in his life and was baptized in the Big Sandy Creek by the late Reverend Arthur Mitchell of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In 1955, he joined the United States Army and became a man, with a work skill and respect.

Growing up with a strong Christian foundation, Ralphel renewed his relationship with Christ and worked faithfully at Weeping Willow Baptist Church. He was ordained as a deacon by the late Reverend T. L. Garner. He later moved his membership to Winn’s Memorial exemplifying what it meant to be a God fearing man until his death.

Ralphel was a truck driver by profession; he worked at Elgin Standard Brick Yard for about ten years, before spreading his talent for money and benefits at the White Swain Company, retiring after twenty-five years. He often spoke of his ability to have retired at the age of fifty-nine: Stating it was only a blessing .

He enjoyed life and love his family extending to five generations.
