My Journey…

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

“A Time To Be Born”

Ralph Anthony Yearty was born on October 1, 1952, in Kendall, Florida, the second child born to Betty and Charles Yearty. Ralph received his early childhood education through the Miami-Dade County Public School System, graduating from Miami Central High School in 1970.

“A Time To Plant”

In 1971, Ralph enlisted with the US Air Force by way of Opa Locka, Dade, Florida. He worked as an airline radio operator, serving on many bases before relocating to Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Florence Berkhalter. In 1975, Ralph received an Honorable Discharge and made Austin, Texas, his home.

“A Time to Work and Play”

Ralph continued to work in civil service through the United States Postal Service, which he did for several years. Ralph completed his years of working with Capitol Metro as a bus driver, which he did until his health failed.

Ralph enjoyed listening to blues and R&B, especially the OJ’s, dancing with his wife, cooking BBQ for the family, and hosting family and friends gatherings. Ralph would often share fond memories of his early childhood in Florida. He was known as a strong man who enjoyed life and his family.

“A Time To Die”

On the morning of May 25, 2025, Ralph’s earthly journey was completed. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Yearty.

“A Time To Weep”

Left to cherish Ralph’s legacy are his loving and devoted wife, Florence Yearty, his children, Katryn Hopkins (Gene), Willie Berkhalter, and James Berkhalter (Donna); his siblings, Linda McCall (Larry), Jeffrey Yearty (Barbara), Keith Yearty, Keenan Wimbley (Perstephanie), Kevin Wimbley, and Kathyrn Wimbley-Spivey (Michael); his grandchildren, a large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; also a host of other relatives and friends.
