Listen to Obituary

Paul “Smiley” Calvin Randle, age 63, made his triumphant transition to glory on July 7, 2025, with his eyes looking toward Heaven and listening to the Angels rejoice at his arrival. Smiley was the sixth of seven children born to Mr. Harvey L. and Mrs. Hattie L. Randle on August 7, 1961, in Taylor, Texas. Smiley grew up in the small community of Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School in 1982. Throughout his career, Paul held various jobs, including working at the Essence Club, driving school buses for Taylor ISD, and serving as a transport driver for the City of Taylor Railroad, a semi-tractor trailer driver for Zero Company in San Antonio, Texas, and for Taylor Compress.

Paul enjoyed his life to the fullest, having been blessed with a special gift, ‘the ability to fix anything’, which elevated him beyond the typical role of a handyman. He cherished his moments with his family and friends and loved family times. Paul enjoyed watching “Let’s Make a Deal” and listening to Country & Western music, reflecting his appreciation for storytelling and heartfelt lyrics.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Hattie Randle, and two brothers, Bruce and Wayne Randle, and a great nephew, George Huddlen, Jr.

Smiley leaves in God’s hands his daughter, Shanikka Toliver of Pflugerville, four grandchildren, Miracle, Deonavan ‘Simles’, LaSarah, and Ziyana; two sisters, Jeanette Spencer and her husband, Ellus Steen Jr. of Manor, and Paula and her husband, Kenneth Deary of Taylor; two brothers, Harvey Randle Jr. and his wife, Polly of Taylor, and William H. Randle of Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends covering three generations.

Family and Friends will gather to celebrate Paul's Life at Williams Memorial Chapel at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, July 18th, at 10:00 AM, with Reverend Lewis Zachary presiding. Interment will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
