Orlanda Flores

Orlanda Dominguez Flores, known affectionately as Mina, gracefully departed this world at the age of 77, gaining her wings on Sunday, June 16, 2024. She was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister, grandmother, and friend.

Born on July 19, 1946, in Bastrop Texas to Esauro and Sofia Dominguez, Orlanda's life was a testament to love and family. It was during her school years in Bastrop that she encountered the love of her life, Isidro Flores, whom she married on May 24, 1964. Together they were blessed with three children: Joanne, Theresa, and James.

Orlanda's heart overflowed with joy when surrounded by loved ones. Cooking for her family brought her immense pleasure alongside singing, dancing to music, shopping, and savoring moments spent with her grandchildren. Yet above all else was her boundless affection for her family.

As she now joins her beloved husband Isidro Flores, parents Esauro and Sofia Dominguez, in-laws Sebero and Luisa Flores, and grandson Dylan Flores in the embrace of Heaven; Orlanda's legacy endures through her daughters Joanne (Elizies) Williams, Theresa (Kenneth) Simmons, son James (Rebecca) Flores; six grandkids; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister Orfalinda Ramon; numerous cousins; nieces; nephews; dear friends considered family; with a special mention of Aunt Licha Torres for unwavering support.

While our hearts ache from the void left by Mina's departure from this earthly realm – we find solace in the knowledge that she rests in divine peace. Her memory will forever linger within us as we hold onto the countless precious moments shared with her.

The family acknowledges with gratitude the outpouring of love from relatives and friends through calls, visits, comforting gestures as well as the invaluable care provided by Hospice staff during their mother’s time of need.

In honoring Orlanda Flores’s resolute spirit and enduring love for those around her – may we find comfort knowing that her legacy of warmth and compassion lives on eternally.

Serving with grace and honor as Pallbearers are her grandsons, Jonathan Beltran, Jeremy Williams, Adrian Williams, Matthew Beltran, Brandon Flores, and Isaiah Simmons.

Family and Friends will gather for a Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, June 21st from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the Holy Rosary recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.  A Celebration of Christian Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, June 22nd at 11:00 AM, with Father Paul presiding.  Interment will follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery.
