Ora Blackwell

October 4, 1936 — May 27, 2020

Lockhart, Texas

“A light from our household has dimmed.

A voice we loved has been stilled.

A place is vacant in our hearts

that can never be filled.”

The epitome of elegance and steadfast faith, Mrs. Ora Mae Parks Blackwell entered into Eternal rest on May 27, 2020.  Ora Mae was born to the union of Early and Willie Mae (Jackson) Parks on October 4, 1936 in Manor, Texas. She attended public schools in Manor school district.  As a child, Ora Mae accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member at Saint Luke Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, serving until her health failed.

Ora Mae Parks was united in Holy Matrimony to Lavern Blackwell; they shared many memories until his death.

Ora Mae was a loving, and spiritual woman, one that feared the Lord but loved him dearly.  She loved all of her children, holding a special place in her heart for each one while squeaking her five generations of family.  Her favorite pass time was singing and praising God, with her little Grands on her lap.

Ora Mae is preceded in death by parents, her husband, Lavern Blackwell, Sr., brother, Benny Johnson; sister, Dorothy Mae Jones; daughter, Alisa Blackwell, son, Charles Bradford, great grand daughter, Diamone` Wilson, and son-in-law, Douglas Wilson.

In God’s care, to cherish her memory, Ora Mae leaves her five Children, Pamela Wilson, Debra and her husband, Xavier Bowser, Lavern Blackwell, Jr., Vinson Blackwell and his wife, Kiesha, and Timothy Blackwell, thirteen Grandchildren, seventeen Great Grandchildren; four Great, great Grandchildren; nieces and nephew, Melinda Fearance, Beverly Turner, Karen Jones, and Lorance Jones, Jr.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
