“A light from our household has dimmed.
A voice we loved has been stilled.
A place is vacant in our hearts that can never be filled.”
The epitome of elegance and steadfast faith, Mrs. Ophelia Carter Wright, 74, entered Eternal rest on December 5, 2025. Ophelia was born to Nolan and Everlean (Taylor) Carter on November 15, 1951, in Bastrop, Texas. She attended the public schools of Bastrop Independent School District. As a child, Ophelia accepted Christ, joined Bethlehem Baptist Church, and participated in its activities.
Ophelia was a loving and spiritual woman, one who feared the Lord but loved him dearly. She loved all of her family, holding a special place in her heart for her only child, Victoria, and each of her grandchildren. Always ready to go when one of them would say, “Let’s go…” She enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, especially the trips to the beach. She was classified as a good backseat driver, for she would sit quietly. Her favorite pastime was doing whatever the grands wanted to do or go. Her quality time was shared with her siblings, making memories at family reunions and cookouts.
Ophelia worked as a restaurant cook at the Texas Grill in Bastrop in the mornings and did her daily walks around her community in the evening. She retired after about fifty years of service.
Ophelia is preceded in death by her parents, Everlean Carter and Nolan Carter, and one brother, Early Ray Carter.
In God’s care, to cherish her memory, Ophelia leaves her daughter, Victoria (Gene), her grandchildren, DJ (Shaunta), and their children- Ashton, Aubrey, and Amori; D’Nerier, Dior (Destiny) and their children- Christian and Logan; Nastassia and her children, Mazi’eon and Koa; D’emire (Natasha) and their child, Zaiydee; her siblings, Dorine, Catherine, Nolan, Jr. (Elaine), Lola Mae, Alfred (Debroah), Linda Gayle, Willie James, Betty Jean, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and Friends will gather for a Home-Going Celebration at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Saturday, December 13th at 11:00 AM, followed by the interment at Sayers Cemetery.
