Morris Wadle Searcy, III was born on February 1, 1950, to Morris W. Searcy Jr. and Helen Bernice Cameron-Searcy in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended the public schools in Ft. Worth, Texas. At the young age of seventeen, Morris enlisted in the United States Marines and completed one tour. He received his high school diploma and several medals while fighting in the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his service and his certificate, which showed he was a member of the "the Few, the Proud," and "Esprit de Corps," and received an Honorable Discharge.
After leaving the military, he moved to Austin, Texas, where he met and married Viola Cannon. They united their families and were blessed with twenty-four years.
Morris was self-employed as a carpenter and construction worker. He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Quinton. Morris enjoyed and loved his family. Combining the families, he loved and supported them all, and they returned the respect, being one big family.
As time moved forward, Morris was placed in Silver Pines Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. His wife and children made a hard decision and placed him in Hospice Care. Morris remained at the center until his death on February 8, 2024.
Awaiting his arrival in glory are his parents, grandparents, daughter, Venetta Searcy, and granddaughter, Kesha Cannon.
Morris was blessed with seventy- four years, and he leaves in God’s hands to cherish his legacy, his loving Wife, Viola Searcy; three Brothers, Antone Searcy of Houston, Texas, Mike Searcy, and Terry Searcy both of Henderson, Texas; one Son, Bryan Searcy; Step-Children, Darcy Esemonu (Larry) of Phoenix, Arizona, Carl Lee Cannon Jr of Austin Texas, and Freddie Cannon of Austin, Texas; Special Children Keith Cannon, daughter-in-law, Rhonda Cannon, Granddaughters, KeShawn Cannon, and Brionna Cannon all of Del Valle, Texas, and Veronica Locket of Manor Texas, fourteen Grandchildren and ten Great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Morris Wadle Searcy, will lie In-State, at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, February 23rd from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Willie Chapel of Austin, Saturday, February 24th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rodney Lee, Sr. presiding. Interment will be at Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery on Monday, February 26th at 10:00 AM with Military Honors.
