Mark Anthony Neidig

July 15, 1963 — April 18, 2025

Mark Anthony Neidig, age 61, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2025. He was born on July 15, 1963, at St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas. A proud Elgin Wildcat, Mark graduated with the Elgin High School Class of 1981. Aside from his college years, he spent his entire life in Elgin—a community he loved deeply.

Mark began his college journey at Southwest Texas State University in 1980 before transferring to North Texas State University ( now University of North Texas), where he earned his degree in Interior Design. His love for design and all things beautiful fueled his life. He had a passion for collecting, especially Hallmark Christmas ornaments featuring Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. Mark also found joy in planting flowers not just for their beauty, but often to share with loved ones.

A natural planner and creative spirit, Mark delighted in organizing events and themed celebrations. His talents shone through in every detail, and he generously volunteered his time throughout college and beyond—serving his fraternity, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Youth Director at the FUMC, and many other local organizations.

Mark cherished time spent with good friends and never passed up an opportunity for a road trip—whether to dine out, ski, or simply explore. He would say the journey began the moment you decided to go. One of his greatest joys was planning those trips for friends, family, and church youth groups.

His interest in music began in junior high, then high school and continued into adulthood through his involvement with the New Horizons Band in Austin. Mark was an enthusiastic football fan, attending as many games as he could and enjoyed declaring a winner of the bands performing during halftime. He cheered proudly for the teams he loved, including the SWTSU Bobcats during their Division II National Championships, and later, the North Texas “Mean Green,” whose colors he wore with great pride.

While at North Texas, Mark joined Kappa Alpha Fraternity, forming lifelong bonds of brotherhood and friendship that endured to the end.

Mark deeply loved his family and extended that love to the many friends he considered family. He was preceded in death by his father, Heine Leroy Neidig. He is survived by his mother, Martha Payne Neidig; his sister, Lee Morton; his niece Erin and her husband Daryl; and great-nieces, Meredith, Morgan, and Macy Heine.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Kindful Health and his caregiver, Laura, for their compassionate care and dedication to Mark’s comfort.
