Lynne Treadwell

October 7, 1939 — July 10, 2022

Elgin, Texas

Lynne Ann Treadwell, 82, of Pflugerville, formerly of Elgin, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022.  Lynne was born the youngest of three children to William “Bill” Slayman and Helen Chills Slayman, in Canton, Ohio, on October 7, 1939.  On February 19, 1958, she married the love of her life, Clovis Treadwell, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. The young couple spent their early years moving around as Clovis was stationed at various Air Force bases around the world.  While stationed in France, they welcomed their first child, Kenneth, then back in the states their next two children, Robert and Dana, were born in California and their last child, Dawn, was born in Oklahoma (and they never let her forget it).

After Clovis retired from the Air Force in 1974, the family moved to Elgin, where they raised their four children.  Lynne loved the ranch in Elgin, often working long hours with her father-in-law, Clyde mending fences, bailing hay, working with the cattle, and being a member of the Lost Pines Riding Club where she would get to take the occasional trail ride.  After Clovis retired the second time, they were able to travel extensively and in 2004 they moved from Elgin to Pflugerville. This enabled them to spend more time bowling on several senior bowling leagues in Austin. Lynne shared the same passion for bowling as her husband and was an active member of the Austin Women’s Bowling Association.  Lynne was also well known at many local craft and wood working stores, including Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann’s, and Woodcraft. She had a creative spirit and could do almost any craft including sewing, crocheting, knitting, macrameing, candle making, leather tooling, glass sandblasting, embroidering, model building, wood working and even creating stained glass lamps and windows.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clovis Treadwell; both her parents; and her two brothers, Bob and Donnie Slayman.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Kenneth Treadwell and wife Donna of Austin, Robert Treadwell and wife Kathy of San Antonio, Dana and husband Dwight Shoulders of Pflugerville, and Dawn and husband Rodney Austin of Buda; her nine grandchildren, Lizzy McMasters, Kathryn Treadwell, Daryl Treadwell, Sara Rambo, Nicole Johnson, Michelle Sperl, Will Shoulders, Erica Austin, and Justin Austin; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Visitation and viewing will be held one hour prior to a Celebration of Lynne’s Life at Elgin Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 19th at 11:00 AM.  Interment will be private.  Family and Friends will gather for repast following funeral services.
