Katherine “Kathy” Denise Gigout, 54, of Elgin, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2025.
Kathy was born on April 26, 1971, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Ruby Faye Turnage Ervin and Luther Ervin SR., and grew up in Marion, Arkansas. She met the love of her life, Shane Gigout, at Bible College in Hot Springs, Arkansas, when she was just 18 years old. After marrying, they made their home in Smithville, Texas to be near family, eventually settling in Elgin where they raised their three children and built a beautiful life rooted in faith, love, and service.
Kathy devoted her life to her family and to the Lord. For over 30 years, she faithfully served at Family Worship Center in Elgin. She was an anointed singer and worshipper, served on the pastoral team, was a part of the women’s ministry leadership team, and spent many years as a youth pastor. She also took joy in the behind-the-scenes work; decorating the church, cleaning it, and handling administrative duties with excellence and care. Her generous spirit, steady faith, and joyful presence left an eternal mark on everyone who knew her.
Whether she was organizing an event, leading worship, teaching teens, or simply showing up with a thoughtful gift, Kathy had a way of making people feel seen, loved, and covered. She was the kind of woman who brought peace with her, made everything beautiful, and laughed loudly with the ones she loved.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Faye Turnage, and her loving in-laws, Mike and Jennifer Gigout.
Kathy is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Shane Gigout; their children, Leslie Gigout, Katie Gigout, and Gabriel Gigout; her father, Luther Ervin Sr.; her brother, Luther Ervin Jr.; and her sister, Stephanie Warren. Her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Brandon and Holly Gigout, and Josh and Misty Gigout; her beloved nieces and nephews: Brandon Michael and Maggie Gigout, Paige and Jake Fairres, Tyler Gigout, Wyatt Gigout, Madison Gigout, Hannah and Justin Underwood, Krissy Ervin, Joshua Ervin, and Alexis Warren. Numerous other relatives and friends; and her treasured church family, whom she held close to her heart.
Kathy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep love for her family, her beautiful voice, her warm and joy-filled home, her fierce loyalty, and her servant’s heart. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched and in the family she poured her heart into every single day.
