Life’s Reflections…
Mr. Johnny Parks, often called “JP”, was called home to Glory to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24, 2020.
Johnny was born on August 13, 1968, he was the youngest child born to Robert and Bettie Jo Parks in Austin, Texas.
As a child he was nurtured and rooted in the admonition of the Lord. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Littig, Texas.
JP formal education was in the Elgin Independent School District.
JP was the manager and Pit Master at Crosstown BBQ in Elgin. He was featured in ‘Texas Monthly’ several times because of his barbequing skills. He remained a Pit Master until his health started to fail him. “JP” was proud of his BBQ skills and refused to give anyone the secret to his sausage recipe.
Johnny was a kind, loving, husband; father, brother, uncle and friend who was also the life of the party.
JP was joined in Holy Matrimony with Shira on August 26, 2017. The couple pulled their families together to formed one. They enjoyed traveling and evening drive in the community.
JP was reunited in death with his parents, three brothers, Robert Parks, Jr., Ronald Ray Parks, and Ira Lewis Crayton.
JP was blessed with fifty-one years, and he leaves in God’s hands to cherish his short legacy his loving wife, Shira A. Parks, two beautiful daughters, Martissa Parks (Alan), Clairissa Jefferson and their mother, Tammy.
