Johnathon Benjerman "JJ" Houston, of Austin, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023. He was born on June 21, 1978, at Camp Pendleton, California to John B. Houston and Jerline Wright.
JJ graduated from Taylor High School in 1996 and then attended Abilene Christian University. After his time in college Johnathan decided he wanted to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army.
He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He never met a stranger. JJ was a kind, fun-loving, charismatic, loveable, and outgoing person who loved spending time with all his family and friends, especially his son, Brendan Thomas Houston. JJ was a loving, dedicated hands-on father. Being a father was his greatest achievement and accomplishment. He had immense passion for helping those that needed help and defending the defenseless and he was always a source of positivity.
He met his fiancée Morgan Jarvis, in Round Rock at his apartment complex, and they quickly went from friends to an inseparable couple, they enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and watching movies together and going on road trips to any and everywhere with no real destination in mind. They hung out with their best friends Thomas and Jamie every chance they could.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Jerline Wright, and grandfather, William Jackson.
He leaves his rich legacy to his son, Brendan Thomas Houston; fiancée, Morgan Jarvis; father, John B. Houston; siblings, John Houston II and wife Sally, Makesha and husband Victor Davidson, Ike Houston and wife Zasha, Lee Wright, Lisa Wright, and Isaiah Wright; best friend/brother, Thomas Salmela and wife Jamie; grandmother; 2 aunts; and many cousins and dear friends.
A Celebration of JJ’s Life will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, March 3rd at 3:00 PM. Inurnment will be private.
