John Albert Alba, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 3, 2024, in Houston, Texas at the age of 62. He was born on March 18, 1961, in Austin, Texas to Paul Castro Alba Jr. and Amelia Felan Alba.

John's early life was marked by his love for his family and the outdoors. He had a strong passion for hunting, fishing, hiking, wood carving, gardening, bird watching, and even yard work. These activities brought him great joy and peace.

In his professional life, John served his country with honor and dedication. He had an exemplary military career that spanned across different branches. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps (USMC), United States Air Force Reserves (USAF Reserves), as well as the City of Austin and Civil Service with the Army.

John's commitment to serving others extended beyond his military service. He was an active member of Dover First SDA and VFW memberships. His involvement in these organizations allowed him to connect with like-minded individuals and give back to the community.

On July 10, 1982, John married the love of his, Sherri Alba. They shared a beautiful journey together filled with love and friendship for over four decades. Their marriage was a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other through thick and thin.

John was a loving father to his children: Jovona Jackson (Andre), John Alba Jr. (Donitra), Jessica Ruff, and Jacqueline Alba. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in watching them grow into remarkable individuals.

As a doting Grandfather to Talia Jackson, John Alba IV, Landon Jackson, Jaden Alba, Kaeleb Jackson, Tyrone Ruff, Alissa Ruff, Javien Alba, Javon Alba, Jer'ne Alba, Isabella Alba, Jazarah Alba, Olivia Alba, and Julian Alba, John showered them with love and joy. He cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories with his grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his father Paul Castro Alba Jr. and brother Elias Alba. He is survived by his mother Amelia Felan Alba, spouse Sherri Alba, siblings: Steve Alba (Mary Jane), Judy Garza (Geronimo), Daniel Alba (Michelle), Adam Alba, and Paul Alba III. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will deeply miss him.

The legacy of John Albert Alba Sr. will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who was filled with love for God and his family. His warm smile and compassionate nature touched the lives of many.

Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation service on February 21, 2024, at Elgin Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A prayer service will follow from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The funeral service will be held on February 22, 2024, at Elgin Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Killeen in Killeen, Texas at 2:00 PM.

John Albert Alba Sr.'s life was a beautiful testament to the joy found in nature and the love shared amongst family and friends. May his soul rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to inspire us all.
