James Larry Jones, a beloved member of the Austin community, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in Pflugerville, Texas. He was 76 years old.
Born on August 20, 1947, in his hometown of Austin, Texas, James Larry Jones was the son of James Leslie "Bud" Jones and Allie Mae Alford Jones. Throughout his life, Larry embodied strength and perseverance while facing numerous physical and special needs limitations.
Larry's love for life shone brightly through all his endeavors. He worked tirelessly in various occupations until his declining health prevented him from continuing. Despite the challenges he faced, Larry continued to embrace each day with a positive spirit that truly inspired those around him.
In addition to his parents preceding him in death, Larry leaves behind a lifetime filled with cherished memories. He is survived by his brother, Steve Jones and wife, Luanne; niece, Leslie Jones Ford and her husband, Dustin; their children, Allie, Wylie, and Weston; nephew, Grant Jones and wife, Lauren; as well as their daughter, Madelyn. Larry's love for his family knew no bounds, and he derived immense joy from spending time with them.
A faithful member of the Church of Christ, Larry found solace and comfort in his spiritual beliefs. Over the years, he attended several congregations in Austin including Govalle, University Hills, and Southwest. His commitment to his faith served as an inspiration to those who knew him.
To honor the extraordinary life lived by James Larry Jones and celebrate all the lives he touched along his journey, a Celebration of Larry's Life will be held at McDade Cemetery on Saturday, September 23rd at 10:00 AM. The cemetery is located at 143 Columbus St., McDade, TX 78650.
Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow at the loss of such an incredible individual whose vibrant presence will be greatly missed, let us remember Larry's enduring spirit. He taught us the true meaning of resilience and gratitude, and his memory will forever live on in our hearts.
