On the morning of July 31, 2024, Irene Ockelberry, at the age of 66, answered her Heavenly Father's call from this earthly home to her Heavenly home. Her parents are Rose Lee Ockelberry and T C DeShay. She was born in Shiloh, Bastrop County, Texas, on August 17, 1957. She attended the public schools of Bastrop ISD and Austin ISD, graduating from Austin High School. Irene was raised in and around God-fearing people learning right from wrong. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age.
Irene did it her way…
Irene led an active and fulfilling life for the Love of her family and friends. Her legacy is priceless and will live on forever in the heart of her one and only son, Tyrone. She enjoyed hanging around with her friends and shooting pool. Irene was the life of a party and was given the nickname ‘Black Girl.’
Irene’s tireless efforts surrendered, and those who have gone before her are eagerly awaiting her arrival in the Glory of Heaven… her mother, Rose Lee Presley; her father, Reverend TC DeShay; and her aunts and uncles and some special friends.
Irene leaves in God’s hand to cherish her memories her son, Tyrone Eugene Alexander of Austin; a sister, Jennifer DeShay Neal and her husband Ernest Neal Jr. of Elgin, and a brother, Theophilus Clay DeShay and his wife, Linda of Bastrop; her grandchildren, Tyrenzai Unique Alexander, Tyrsha S Alexander, Taraji Alexander, Tyrone Z. Alexander, Tylieah Rose Alexander, Tyrone Eugene Alexander Jr, and Ty’Keah Khe’Lani Alexander; her second Mother, Ollie Mae DeShay; a host of cousins and friends.
