Reverend H.L. Roberson

Reverend Herbert “Goat” Louis Roberson, of Waelder, Texas, passed away on November 1, 2025. He was born in Rosanky, Texas, and was the sixth child and third son among twelve siblings. 

Herbert was a man of many talents and passions. He loved hunting, cooking—especially barbecue—gardening, reading, and writing. Above all, he was deeply devoted to his family and faith. For 39 years, he faithfully served as a minister, touching many lives through his dedication and compassion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosie B. and J.T. Roberson; his siblings, Rose, Juliette, Roy, J.T., and Darryl; and his son, Quincy Proctor.

Goat is survived by his daughter, Victoria Roberson; six beloved grandchildren—Jaden, Isaiah, Noah, Vi’yana, Kallie, and Sidney; and his siblings Ann, Middie, Tina, Margie, Hans, and Jared.

Herbert lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Family and Friends will gather for the Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, November 14th, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Home-Going Celebration will be held Graveside at St. Phillips Cemetery of Rosanky on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 AM. Reverend L. A. Yarbrough, presiding.
