Glynda "Cookie" Jones-Morgan

September 24, 1976 — September 22, 2022

Temple, Texas

Shortly after midnight, on September 22, 2022, Cookie Jones-Morgan , a beloved wife, passed away at the age of forty-five. She was born on September 24, 1976, in Bastrop Texas. Cookie, a home healthcare provider, was a compassionate caregiver who cared for the elderly and young alike.

During her time helping to raise her niece, Jocelyn, she met her soon-to-be husband, Eric. They were together nearly twenty years, married for sixteen on April 22, 2006.

Cookie was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, baptized by Reverend E. R. McShan.

Cookie had a special place in her heart for music: gospel, blues, hip-hop, and even country. But no genre of music was as special to her as 90’s R&B. She also loved live music events, all things Harry Potter-related, and game nights with her family. It was said that Cookie never met a stranger, and in her own words she was “a delight.”

Cookie is preceded in death by our son, Maurice, her father, Theo Jones Sr., her sisters, Janice Jones, Naomi Washington, and her brother, Theo Jones Jr.

Cookie is survived by her husband, Eric Morgan and their dog Lena, her mother, Ellie Jones and mother-in-law, Rosemary Morgan. Siblings surviving Cookie include sisters, Vanessa Jones-Porter, Sandra Jones, Amanda Hunter, and Deborah Jones-Blanks (Michael), her nieces, Jocelyn Jones-Porter, Thea Jones, and Janayja Jones, her nephews, Steven Jones, Tyric Jones, Antonio Washington, Joel Jackson, and Ty’ron Jones as well as her god-children, Tristen Jones, Eliana Gilchrist, and Legend Henderson-Barnes.

Many people held a special place in Cookie’s heart but, her high school best friend, Jodi Grant, and Jonathan and Melissa Gilchrist were more than friends, they were family.

Finally, we would like to express gratitude to Dr. Tanner and the nurses at the Home Dialysis Clinic, Dr. Bansal, the STC 3 Nursing Staff at Baylor Scott & White Hospital, and the Elgin Funeral Home.

Her memorial service will be held at Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, September 30th at 6:30 pm.
