- Gloria Jean Vanpelt, 69, of McDade, Texas passed away on September 10, 2025. She was born on February 7, 1956, in Sebring, Florida, to the late Carolyn Good and Frank Goodson. Gloria was deeply loved and raised by Carolyn Good and her stepfather Chet Good, whom she proudly called daddy.
- Gloria, affectionately known as "MeMaw" by those closest to her, was a Southern woman through and through. Her warm “hey baby” greetings, her love for Reba McEntire, and her signature drinks—whether it was a large unsweet iced tea with extra ice from Sonic or a venti iced vanilla latte with five pumps of vanilla and six shots of espresso from Starbucks—were just a few of the things that made her uniquely MeMaw. Life brought Gloria many challenges, but her devotion to her granddaughters and great-granddaughter never wavered. She was a constant, loving presence in their lives, often stepping into the role of the grandparent they could always count on.
- Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Chris Vanpelt; her mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Chet Good; her father, Frank Goodson; and her brother, Milton Goodson.
- She is survived by her daughter, Carol Amerson, and her husband, Paul; her grandchildren, Brittany Thorpe and her husband Branden, Natalie Amerson, and Alyssa Friesen and her husband Andrew; and her great-granddaughter, Zuri Thorpe, who brought Gloria endless joy. She also leaves behind her brother, Michael Goodson, and his wife Wendy; her sister, Melissa Orton, and her husband Don; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Gloria’s love, humor, and strength will live on in the hearts of her family forever.
