Gay La Rie Harvey Skrhak

Gay La Rie Harvey Skrhak of Granger passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Gay was born on May 12, 1959, in Galveston, Texas.

Gay was a fun, upbeat, outgoing person who loved life and found the beauty in the ordinary. She was an amazing mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially watching Dallas Cowboys games with her sons. Once you met her, you felt like you had known her for years. She truly had a servant’s heart. She loved caring for others through her cooking. If you told her you loved something, she made sure to bring you your own special dish the next time she saw you. Gay had a sarcastic wit and spoke in movie quotes, an attribute that she passed on to her sons. She was always ready to laugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Skrhak, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Tara Evans; son, Joshua Oden and wife Shanna; son, Jacob Oden and wife April; grandchildren, Ty Oden and wife Kylie, Skylar Evans, Brock Oden, and Corbin Evans; great-grandson Micah Ty Oden; mother-in-law, Bertha Skrhak; her precious dog, Lola; and numerous friends and neighbors who she treated like family.

Family and Friends will gather for a Celebration of Life at Elgin Funeral Home, Saturday, August 10th at 2:00 PM with Brother Joshua Hausladen presiding.
