Garland Duke Dunbar, Jr., 85, of Truckee, CA, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022. He was born at the Pruitt Brickyard, in Elgin, on October 22, 1936. Garland was a High School teacher for over 50 years. He began his teaching career at Borger High in TX, where he also coached football for a few years. He then moved to Southern California, where he taught and coached many different sports, primarily boys and girls basketball at Fallbrook Union High School in Fallbrook, CA. Garland was probably most well known as the guy behind-the-wheel, who bravely and kindly instructed thousands of kids how to drive, for over 40 years and lived to tell about it!
He will lie in state at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, February 11th, from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be conducted graveside at Ridgeway Cemetery of Paige, Saturday, February 12th at 1:00 PM, with Reverend, Franklin Karr presiding.
