Dewitt “Billy” Wilson was born in Bastrop, Texas, on June 20, 1944, to Inez Wilson and Ledell Arnold.

He was baptized at an early age. A proud graduate of Bastrop High School, Dewitt went on to serve his country honorably as a Jet Aircraft Mechanic in the United States Air Force, including service during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the military, he continued his dedication and craftsmanship at IBM, where he later retired.

Dewitt lived life fully with joy, laughter, and a love for people. He was known as the life of the party, always ready with a smile, a story, or a good joke. He belonged to several social organizations and never missed an opportunity to connect with others. In his leisure time, he enjoyed cooking, gardening, building things, and traveling. He was always curious, creative, and full of life.

He was first married to Sandra Young, and from this union came his beloved daughter, Shamika Wilson. He also cherished his stepdaughter, Rashun Williams. Later in life, Dewitt married Lerece Priestly.

Dewitt is preceded in death by his grandmother Ellen Moore, mother Inez Wilson, sister Gladys Clemmons, grandson Draylen Mason, nephew Tyrone Douglas Wilson, and niece Rolanda “Kaye” Wilson.
