Daniel Lee Lytle was born on February 20, 1948, in Cherokee, Oklahoma. He left for his Heavenly home on October 27, 2024, at home and surrounded by his family. As a child, he traveled from Oklahoma to California, Alaska, and then Texas with his parents starting churches. When his family moved to Austin for his senior year, he lost course credits and was notified he would have to make them up in the summer. In true Danny-fashion, he decided he was through with school, and let his adventurous nature take over. He thumbed cars and trucks and hopped freight trains. While in South Carolina, he obtained his GED. In 1968, before he could be drafted into any branch, he chose to serve as a Marine. After two years of service and with an honorable discharge, he returned to Austin. There, he married Jeanne Kay Urban. Their property which became known as “The Bogg” was born. They started their family of three children and had many parties on The Bogg that live on in many hearts. His love of traveling flowed into his work life as well. He worked many jobs and trades. He was a short-order cook, built medical braces, and worked in masonry. He was a carpenter, a mechanic, a welder, an electrician, and a master plumber. His beloved hobbies included working as a volunteer fireman for the City of Manor and flying ultralights at The Bogg. He parked cars for Farm Aid when they came to Manor Downs in 1986. He worked in the Rose Garden in Tyler, for Texas Instruments, Advanced Micro Devices, Dan’s Plumbing, Manor Plumbing, Scalefree/SDI, and eventually retired from the City of Austin as a water protection specialist and 20 years of service. In 1999, he married Bernie and in their love of traveling, she made sure he no longer hitched his rides but paid his way. He attended Trinity Chapel Church and served as an Elder, worship leader, and Sunday school teacher. He also performed general maintenance. Whatever was needed, he would get it done. He was a “yes” man. He said “yes” to any new adventures, anyone in need, and any new learning opportunity. Even after their divorce, he would always stop and go help Jean if she was in need. He was a certified prison chaplain. He was an amazing human being that was a living testimony of Christ's handiwork. He spared no details. His life was the poster child of being away from God and being drawn back in, NEVER being let go. And when he finally arrived in the prime years of his life and recommitted his life, he was a force to be reconned with for a living breathing testimony of Jesus Christ. His later years, he built his retirement home, raised animals, enjoyed gardening, hosted many family gatherings, played with his favorite toy (his Case backhoe), had fun with the grandkids, and praised God with a Hallelujah and an Amen every chance he could. He led by example as he took care of his parents (and honorary parents) as well as many church Elders. He was very passionate about his civic duty and assisted with elections. He proudly fulfilled the role as Chairman of his county precinct. Even though Alzheimer’s stole a lot from him, it could not steal his joy. It could not steal his love for his Savior. He enjoyed life to the fullest and remained a witness to God’s love and mercy! Over the years, he has formed many life-long friendships and will be missed by them all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Geraldine Lytle, his brothers Samuel and Timothy, and former wife Jeanne.
He is survived by his wife Bernie; his children Nathaniel Lytle (Lisa), Misty Lytle Barrera (Pedro), Christianne Hale (Kevin); Eight grandchildren; One great-grandchild. His siblings Dee Dee (Jim), Stephen (Bernadette), Jon (Marcy), David (Gloria). His sister-in-law Louise Linarez and many nieces and nephews in the US and Belize.
