Daniel Edwin Kleidon, 89, of Manor, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, Friday morning, July 10, 2020. Daniel was the seventh of ten children born to Otto Kleidon and Martha Baker Kleidon, on August 20, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. He attend school in Chicago and joined the United Army at the age of 17. After honorably serving his second enlistment, he worked odd jobs for a few years, until taking a job for the City of Chicago with the streets and sanitation division. He worked for over 20 years with the City of Chicago until his retirement in 1995.
In 1963, Daniel met Olivia Marciel at a birthday party and several days later, his persistence paid off and the two went on their first date. Two years later Daniel and Olivia were united in Holy Matrimony and together would have celebrated over 55 years of marriage on the 28th of August. Daniel’s second love was to fish. Daniel and Olivia spent many weekends at their vacation home on Lake Alice in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, fishing and enjoying each other’s company.
Daniel was a faithful member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church of Manor and was a longtime member of the American Legion in Chicago.
Daniel was preceded in death by both his parents and all nine siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Olivia, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Though Daniel and Olivia did not have their own children, they always had a special place in their home and heart for Ariana Medearis, Cygney Medearis, and Anna Vlcek and cared for them as they were his own children and grandchildren.

Daniel’s casket will lie in state at the Elgin Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16th from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.
