Listen to Obituary

Daniel DeShaun Brown was born to the union of Ernest L. Brown, Sr., and Willie Pearl (Thompson) Brown on January 12, 1971. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. His life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, love, and service to others. Daniel attended Bastrop Elementary and High Schools, graduating in 1989.

In 1995, Daniel accepted his calling and preached his first sermon at Dorcas Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas. Reverend Brown’s calling to the ministry marked a significant moment in his life. He joined Dorcas Chapel under the guidance of Reverend James Haywood. Continuing under Reverend Haywood’s leadership, he became a member of Judah Praise Church, where he remained until his death. He served as an associate minister in both churches, which gave him opportunities to grow in his ministry. Reverend Brown “Walked the Walk and Talked the Talk.” Sometimes called “Prophet Brown" and sometimes referred to as a disciple, he impacted the lives of many people. His prophetic gifts were evident. He deeply touched the lives of many people, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was truly a man of God.

Throughout his life’s journey, he held positions at Griffins and Elgin Brick Yard, but the position he took the most pride in was his opportunity to work with The Honorable Ronnie McDonald for approximately ten years during Judge McDonald’s tenure as Bastrop County Judge. For several years, Reverend Daniel Brown cared for his mother as her health declined, staying with her until she passed away.

Daniel had the opportunity to take a road trip across several states with his mother, and she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Daniel loved his family dearly. He also loved his church, his friends, and the Dallas Cowboys, whether they were winning or losing. His brother called him a “sweet soul”.

Reverend Brown was called to his eternal rest on July 17, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest L. Brown, Sr., and Willie Pearl (Thompson) Brown; and one sister, Debra (Tennon) Chambers.

Reverend Daniel Brown will be deeply missed by his loving family, including two brothers: Kevin L. Brown and Ernest L. Brown Jr.; two sisters: Angella (Tennon) Hooks and Lana (Nunn) Washington; two aunts: Joyce Sibley and Plonnie Taylor (Wade); and one uncle: Plummer Thompson Jr. Also sharing the memories of his life are nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Pastor James Haywood, Sister Magnolia Haywood, Reverend Daniel, and Sister La Tasha Brown.

We express our sincere gratitude to all who have helped Reverend Brown along the way.
